This Maine seascape painting measures 22" x 15" and is painted on paper.
Inspiration and Medium used for this Maine painting
As most of the regulars know, Stonington, Maine has provided hundreds of paintings since I first visited this quaint and beautiful town in 2003. I've returned a handful of times and plan on making it back there at-least once a year. I spend plenty of time painting in plein air and taking photographs that help inspire paintings like this one.
Acrylic on paper was my medium of choice. If you're familiar with Stonington, please don't try to pinpoint exactly where this scene is located. When I work from photos I usually end up adding and deleting many elements. The photo reference is used to get me started and from there my imagination roams and the paintbrush follows. It's more of an impression of my imagination and creativity.
Here are a few close-ups of this Maine seascape so you can appreciate the brushwork. I've included a framed image for display purposes only.
